The calendar for the 2027 World Rally Car season is here and there are some new locations that have fans talking!

For the first time since 1988, it was announced that the WRC championship battle will be making a stop in the United States. With the rise of different motorsport series in the United States, World Rally Car is throwing their hat in the ring to see if they can take on the North American market!

The new schedule announcement follows the news that Ford Racing, will be making their return to the World Rally Championship in 2028. Ford has been expanding their motorsport teams and before taking on Rally Car, will also be joining the Hypercar Category in World Endurance Challenge in 2027. With a new American team joining the WRC and a new race added to the calendar, it is obvious that World Rally Car want to expand their American audience.

Lia Block, former Formula 1 Academy driver, has been getting back to her roots and making waves in the Rally Car world where just this past weekend, she finished second in the American Rally Associate National Championship. Block competed in Formula 1 Academy (a feeder series to Formula 1) for the 2024 and 2025 season with Williams Racing. With this crossover bringing more interest from Formula 1 fans, this could potentially be another avenue to see not only a growth in Rally fans, but also diversify the fan base that we have seen happen to many other racing series over the last decade.
